The federal government just shortened the time that they will be accepting response to the 2020 Census. The new deadline is September 30 – just 7 weeks from now! It is critical that every single household fills out the Census and counts everyone living there, including children, seniors, and non-family members living in the house
The Census count is used for the next 10 years to determine funding for critical services like healthcare (including Medicare/Medicaid), housing (such as funding for public housing and Section 8), transportation (planning bus and T routes), education (resources for our schools), food access (SNAP), voting districts (MA lost a seat in Congress after the last count), and so so much more. It is estimated that in the 2010 Census Massachusetts lost out on nearly $3000 in funding per person not counted! As of today, only 53% of Boston households have completed the Census. So please, complete your census today!
